Panel: City life

04 July 2026 13:00 - 13:40 91TV Free

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2026.

As the human environment grows, some species of wildlife disappear whilst others adapt to the new ‘urban jungle’ in interesting and sometimes unexpected ways.

This panel will explore the species that thrive in the urban world, how their behaviours have changed and how we might better live alongside them.

Speakers include:

  • – Researcher and Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow at the University of Exeter, interested in the evolution and ecology of cognition and social behaviour

  • – Producer of award-winning natural history programmes, whose credits include the 2026 BBC documentary Wild London

  • – Director of Nature Recovery at London Wildlife Trust, working to make more space for nature in one of the world’s most iconic cities

  •  – Wildlife presenter, best known as one of the faces of BBC Two’s long-running and BAFTA award-winning series Springwatch. Megan combines her expertise as a scientist with a love of adventure and a passion for raising awareness of climate issues and biodiversity.

This event is part of Attenborough at 100: a weekend of wildlife.
